✅Tired of Shoes Everywhere? Try This One-Week Challenge

✅A small habit that helped one child go from eye-rolls to real pride.

Hello parents & teachers,

Some lessons don’t begin with big speeches.
Sometimes, they begin with shoes on the floor.

😂 Parent Joke of the Week

Q: What’s a parent’s least favorite magic trick?
A: The disappearing shoe — always just one.

If your hallway is a shoe museum like Rachel’s… you’ll relate. 😄

👟 Week 5 Mission: The Shoe Shelf Challenge

Let me tell you about Rachel and her son, Noah.

Noah is 8.
He’s smart, creative, and very good at ignoring instructions—especially when he’s hungry after school.

Every afternoon, the shoes came off:
One near the door. One by the couch. Sometimes one in the kitchen.

Rachel used to nag him every day:
“Shoes go on the shelf!”
“Noah, how many times do I have to say it?”

But last week, she tried something new.

“This week,” she said, “I’m not going to remind you.
Your mission is to remember on your own.”

Noah squinted at her.

“So… I get in trouble if I forget?”

“Nope,” she said. “It’s just a challenge.”

He didn’t seem impressed.

Here’s what happened:

  • Day 1 — Shoes in the hallway. Rachel said nothing.

  • Day 2 — Same story. She quietly stepped over them.

  • Day 3 — He noticed them later, grumbled, and kicked them toward the shelf.

  • Day 4 — Remembered… but threw them onto the shelf sideways. Progress?

  • Day 5 — Put them away neatly. No eye contact. No smile.

  • Day 6 — Same thing. But this time, no reminder. No grumbling.

  • Day 7 — He walked in, took them off, and lined them up. Then looked at his mom and said:

“I bet you noticed that.”

She smiled.

“I always do.”

That was it.
Not a reward.
Not a lecture.
Just quiet pride, growing in small steps.

🧾 How to Use This Week’s Mission

For Parents:
Pick one small habit—shoes, backpack, lunchbox.
Explain it clearly: “This week, I won’t remind you. It’s your job.”
Then let them struggle. Let them forget. Let them improve.
And when they get it right—just smile.

For Teachers:
Assign each student a daily classroom task.
Let them fumble with it. Then grow.
Growth sticks better when they own it

💭 Reflection from Master Hong

“Responsibility grows through failure—and sticks through pride.”

Ask your child or student:

  • “What’s one thing you want to take charge of this week?”

  • “How does it feel when someone trusts you to do something on your own?”

🔜 Coming Next Week...

What happens when one brave word changes everything?
In Week 6, you’ll meet a student who found her courage—just by speaking up.

Until then, keep kicking forward—and celebrate the little wins.
They’re never little to your child.

🏡 Local Kindness Corner

After trying the “Power Pose” challenge, a student in West Jordan now stands in front of the mirror each morning and says:

“I am strong. I am kind. I can try.”
His mom wrote, “It’s the first time I’ve seen him believe it.”

A dad in Herriman shared:
“My daughter used to struggle with mornings. But now, after doing the ‘Family Cheer,’ she reminds me to say it. It’s our new morning hug.”

📷 P.S. I finally made an Instagram!
I’ll be honest… I’m not very good at social media 😅
But I started it to support those who feel more comfortable connecting that way.

I’ll be sharing short stories, parenting tips, quotes, and mission updates there too.
