✅ Why I Still Remember Him
🔍One kind voice can stay in your heart for 20 years—and change how you speak today
🧠 Kick Your Life™: Wisdom from Korea – Week 3
“If the outgoing words are beautiful, the incoming words will be beautiful too.”
가는 말이 고와야 오는 말이 곱다.

💬 A Note from Master Chris Hong
Hello parents & teachers,
I hope you are doing well this week.
The weather here in South Jordan has been a little wild lately
hot and windy one day, hail the next, and suddenly chilly again.
It reminded me of something:
our words can be like that too.
Some days they’re warm and kind.
Other days, they come out sharp without us meaning to.
And sometimes, we don’t even realize the impact they have.
I’ve definitely made mistakes with my words.
Not on purpose—but because I wasn’t careful.
And once a word is out, we can’t pull it back in.
But I’ve also learned this:
A kind word can stay with someone forever.
And I know that’s true…
because of someone I met years ago.
✨ Why I Still Remember Him
When I was living in San Diego, I met a Korean gentleman who spoke in a way that really stood out to me.
He wasn’t loud or impressive.
He just had a calm, respectful way of talking that made people feel safe around him.
Before he spoke, he listened.
Before giving advice, he encouraged.
Before correcting, he complimented.
I remember thinking, “How does someone speak so gently and still carry such strength?”
So I started watching him closely… and practicing how he spoke.
That was over 20 years ago.
And I still remember the kindness in his voice.
That’s the power of a beautiful word—
It doesn’t just pass by.
It stays.
📖 This Week’s Korean Wisdom
This week’s proverb says:
“If the outgoing words are beautiful, the incoming words will be beautiful too.”
가는 말이 고와야 오는 말이 곱다
It reminds us that our tone doesn’t just affect others.
It also shapes what comes back to us.
If we want to create peace, kindness, and trust in our homes or classrooms,
we can start by changing the way we speak—even just a little.
🛠️ Try This with Your Family or Classroom
Ask your kids or students:
What’s a kind word you’ve heard that you still remember?
What kind of words do we want to give more of this week?
Try this:
Pick one day this week and do a Kindness Tone Challenge.
Speak gently and positively all day—no matter what.
At the end of the day, ask: What changed?
✅ Your Weekly Kick Plan
This week, try these four small changes:
Pause before you react.
Speak honestly—but calmly.
Offer a kind word to someone who doesn’t expect it.
Reflect: Did my tone change the way others responded?
🌿 Remember
Words are like seeds.
They grow into the homes, classrooms, and relationships we live in.
Speak with care. Grow with kindness.
💡 And just a quick reminder…
Every Monday, you’ll get your Family Kick™ Series—
a short story, a family mission, and a fun challenge to grow stronger together.
📷 P.S. I finally made an Instagram!
I’ll be honest… I’m not very good at social media 😅
But I started it to support those who feel more comfortable connecting that way.
I’ll be sharing short stories, parenting tips, quotes, and mission updates there too.
